The John Howard Society of Canada congratulates the Liberal Party on their election victory.

We look forward to working with Prime Minister Carney and his team to implement effective, efficient, evidence-based criminal justice policy.

We are hopeful that the incoming government will look to the Federal Framework to Reduce Recidivism (FFRR) for solutions. The FFRR – designed around the five key pillars of housing, employment, education, health, and positive support networks – has the potential to meaningfully address some of the most pressing social issues in Canada today.

For too long, Canada has relied on U.S.-style tough-on-crime policies that are expensive, inefficient and ultimately ineffective.

It’s time to make our communities safer by getting smart on crime.
