The ‘Clawbies’ , or Canadian Law Blog Awards, are given each year to blogs that provide valuable services and information for Canadians about the law.  2025 is the 20th consecutive year in which a panel of judges has selected a small number of (mostly) Canadian online legal entities to receive a Canadian Law Blog Award.

This year, the blog of the John Howard Society of Canada was one of 3 winners for ‘Best Canadian Law Blog’  (https://www.clawbies.ca/).

Our blog, entirely run by volunteers, many of them students, began in  the fall of 2017.  It now has more than 280 posts covering a wide range of topics in criminal justice.  The blog attempts to bring high quality information about criminal justice issues into the public domain to support a more informed public debate.  Too often, the discussion of criminal justice issues in Canada is far removed from what the research evidence and experience of those in the system tells us is needed.  A blog cannot change that but it can perhaps help by making solid information more available.

The blog is open to all and can be freely shared or reproduced for any bon-fide purpose provided the original source is acknowledged.  Please feel free to share it.
